Main aim of the charity

Marathon for Cancer is a campaign I launched when my father was diagnosed with cancer which took his life one month later. All funds raised go to the BC Cancer Foundation.

How the employee got involved and why

My father was diagnosed with lung cancer early in February 2018 and died on March 5th, 2018 from this horrible disease. He was incredibly fit and never smoked a day in his life. When we found out he had cancer I decided to start a fundraiser called Marathon for Cancer with all funds going to the BC Cancer Foundation. I promoted my fundraising campaign through social media and over the course of 3 months I was able to raise in excess of $ 5600 for the BC Cancer Foundation.

What work does the employee do for charity?

Over the course of a year I will run 1 full marathon and 3 half marathons. Upon signing up for each race there is an opportunity to partner with the BC Cancer Foundation and continue to raise money. My plan is to continue raising money and awareness for the BC Cancer Foundation.
