RPA (Réunion Protection Animale)

Main aim of the charity

The main aim is to rescue abandoned animals in the streets, take care of them, offer them love, vet cares, a new family. But also to educate the inhabitants of the Island, obviously not to drop not wanted animals by a tree with a rope around the neck, but also to sterilize the females to prevent from unwanted pregnancies. State of minds is hard to change.

How the employee got involved and why

A year ago, we decided to adopt a dog, from a shelter. We met, randomly, RPA (Réunion Protection Animale), an association based in the Réunion Island. Muthu entered in our lives... and so did the association, as I stayed in touch with them.

What work does the employee do for charity?

I was following them on the social medias, and when I saw they were looking for foster families, I contacted them. My work is to pick up the dog at the airport, where they arrive after a 10 hour flight from La Réunion, at around 5:30 AM, to keep them home from a few hours to a few days, until the new family can come, and to sometimes drive a dog to the family when they do not have transportation. I became a "RPA angel"....

What impact would winning have on the charity?

As every association, they struggle with invoices and debts. Rescuing animals costs a lot in vet cares, especially when they are seriously injured, but also to pay for the food, the buildings.... Caroline, the president, is fully dedicated to her cause, and takes care of everything besides her job, but is sometimes overwhelmed by the enormity of the task, and to know that she can get support from a company such as DHL would obviously ease the bank account, but also give her moral support.

What impact would winning have on the employee?

I cannot be anything else than amazed and impressed by the work done over there. I am so proud of them, and would like to help more, but being far away, apart from some financial support and foster family activities, I am limited. Winning would mean to involve my company, clearly a part of my daily life, and show them they are not alone, they need to continue the fight, we stand by them.
