Main aim of the charity

The main aim of the center is to address the issue of stray and abandoned animals in a humane way. They also undergo programs of TNR, rescue, rehabilitation, healthcare and adoption of these animals. in addition they provide basic food and water at several feeding stations for the stray animal population.

How the employee got involved and why

Having spent most of my life fearful of animals, I was lucky to have animal loving friends who taught me that my fears were unwarranted. Fate had me adopting my first rescue cat 2 years ago and there was no looking back. While researching stories of rescue / adoption, I realised that the issue of 'pet dumping' is of epidemic proportions. There are only a handful of centers like the Stray Dog Center in UAQ that rescue these animals from the street, rehabilitate them and find them new homes.

What work does the employee do for charity?

My aim is two fold, while I am involved in fund raising, food collections, organizing dog walks & also sponsor a dog called Connor. I also want to spread the message of "Adopt Don't Shop" to stop the unhealthy practice of force breeding pets for monetary gain. I want to raise awareness that there are plenty of beautiful animals in shelters across the country that are waiting for their new home, waiting for love and waiting for their forever family.
