Main aim of the charity
We're a registered charity dedicated to family welfare, empowering communities and developing self-sufficiency programs to end poverty in Burundi and Rwanda as well as in Calgary, Canada. Our programs focus on child welfare and education, empowering families and communities, emergency relief, and health care and disease prevention
How the employee got involved and why
Wings of Hope for Africa was born out of compassion for children in need. When I became a mother I realized how painful it would be to see your children suffer due to hunger. When my son is sick, I start to think of those African mothers who don’t have anything to give to their children when they’re ill or when they need everyday basic needs. I started Wings of Hope for Africa so I can be the voice of the voiceless and advocate for their rights and bring hope to those in need.
What work does the employee do for charity?
I’m the founder of Wings of Hope for Africa. I raise funds to support vulnerable families living in Calgary, Alberta. and also in the East African countries of Burundi and Rwanda. I also co-ordinate volunteers who serve with us.
What impact would winning have on the charity?
Many children don’t go to school so they can help their parents at home. They wind up doing intensive hard labour such as cultivating the fields. They’re not enjoying their childhood as a result. If we win the funds, we will be able to send hundreds of children back to school in Burundi and give them a much brighter future
What impact would winning have on the employee?
It will make a huge impact in my life because I have compassion for those in need. Sending children back to school will make me happy and bring joy to my heart.
