Main aim of the charity

https://worldbicyclerelief.org/en/ - World Bicycle Relief mobilizes people through The Power of Bicycles. They are committed to helping people conquer the challenge of distance, achieve independence and thrive. For many people in rural regions of developing countries, poverty is a daily reality. In areas where walking is the only mode of transport, a Buffalo Bicycle offers the real and immediate benefit of reliable access to essential goods and services. Powered by the remarkable human spirit, bicycles are a catalyst to possibilities. Their innovative model, combining philanthropic distributions with social enterprise sales, is the backbone on which we deliver greater efficiencies of scale, distribute more bicycles per donation and generate deeper impact where they work.

How the employee got involved and why

While looking for a charity cause to support we took into consideration our teams passion for bicycles. The link to the World Bicycle Relief (https://worldbicyclerelief.org/en/) was quickly made. We contacted the organization, setup a COG/DHL specific fundraising page and are currently growing our involvement with various fundraising activities, leading up to the main event when we will climb the famous 'Passo dello Stelvio' in the North of Italy by bicycle.

What work does the employee do for charity?

We can not support the organization with personally delivering the bikes in Africa, nor train the local mechanics, nor other activities in the field. But we can mobilize the biggest possible crowd back home to (financially) support the World Bicycle Relief organization. For that we are putting on several fundraising events and raising awareness for the organization itself.
