Main aim of the charity

Breast Cancer Now, the charity that’s steered by world-class research and powered by life-changing care. We’re here for anyone affected by breast cancer, the whole way through, providing support for today and hope for the future.

How the employee got involved and why

We became friends through working at DHL AIR, and came up with the idea of raising awareness of Breast Cancer Awareness . We were lucky enough to get support for our idea from our Managing Director Tom Mackle and we were allowed to do an October Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

What work does the employee do for charity?

With just 2 weeks before October we ordered lanyards, T shirts, bracelets and started our campaign. Within the first week of October 5 of our planes got the Pink Ribbon for Breast Cancer Awareness and to raise further awareness throughout the DHL family we used social media. The rest of the DHL world saw the posts and really wanted to get involved and show their support for this cause. Lanyards and T shirts have been sent out by us personally to colleagues all over the world and in return they donated locally. Through donations, cake sales, collections and Be A Hero Wear Pink Day at DHL AIR and the EMA HUB we raised £7500 which we split between Breast Cancer Now and the Nottingham City Hospital Breast Institute. We choose these two charities as they have personally helped two of our colleagues whos wives have faced this horrible disease this year and they will continue to support DHL employees in need.
