Main aim of the charity
Civil Air Patrol is America’s premier public service organization for carrying out emergency services and disaster relief missions nationwide. As the auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, CAP’s vigilant citizen volunteers are there to search for and find the lost, provide comfort in times of disaster and work to keep the homeland safe. Its 60,000 members selflessly devote their time, energy and expertise toward the well-being of their communities, while also promoting aviation and related fields through aerospace education and helping shape future leaders through CAP’s cadet program.
“Supporting America's communities with emergency response, diverse aviation and ground services, youth development, and promotion of air, space and cyber power.”
How the employee got involved and why
I was a member of the Civil Air Patrol when I was a teen and the program helped me to grow as a person and citizen while providing direction in my life allowing me to enter into military service in the Marines after graduating High School.
What work does the employee do for charity?
Currently I work as a Senior Member for Cadet Programs
What impact would winning have on the charity?
We perform several fund raising events to cover the cost of training, clothing and activities for cadets of lower income families. With all of the fund raising the cadets are required to participate in job functions. Most of our fundraising in done at local grocery stores where cadets assist shoppers with their purchase in bagging and assistance to their vehicles.
By winning this would allow us to reach more at risk youth and provide them with sound leadership, fellowship among peers, training in Emergency Services, Air Space activities and ground search and locate operations helping us to build a group of high performing young adults out of some of the worst areas in our city and allowing them to become productive members of society while achieving personal goals and overcoming daily obstacles they face in their lives. The funding would assist us in our efforts to take as many cadets on the Washington DC learning adventure as possible and give them true insight into their country.
What impact would winning have on the employee?
Winning would assist me in bring two of the most important families of my life together. I love working at DHL and I also love working with my cadets, I am working towards a DHL sponsorship for my Squadron as I feel this would allow the best company in the world to work with some of the best youths in the world that come from a long line of dedications to community and self while presenting an appropriate work environment. The Civil Air Patrol helps to build leaders and DHL helps to make them successful. DHL is always looking for future leaders and would be able to find many within the ranks of the St. Paul Civil Air Patrol Squadron.
