Main aim of the charity
Coniston Lodge is a specialist home providing a variety of quality care for the elderly, including 24-hour residential care, dementia care and additional support for those with more complex needs such as mental health conditions. This includes end of life care.
How the employee got involved and why
Five years ago two of our staff members had an elderly relative in a local care home (Coniston Lodge), that provides specialist residential care for patients with dementia and other more complex needs such as mental health issues. As this was close to our hearts and offered us an opportunity to help the local community, we decided to offer support with various activities at the care home.
What work does the employee do for charity?
Over the years, we have supported the care home through various activities such as helping with gardening, painting, singing with the residents, raffles and providing Christmas Hampers. We also generally enjoy chatting with some of the residents to make them feel loved and cared for.
What impact would winning have on the charity?
Winning extra funding for the care home will enable our department to provide additional items that help the wellbeing of the residents, for instance, garden furniture, items for the sensory room we created and arts and crafts which help keep residents stimulated and active.
What impact would winning have on the employee?
This would be an absolutely amazing achievement! Since this is a charitable cause that's very close to the hearts of Finance UK, winning such an award will only help us grow the relationship we have with Coniston Care Home for years to come.
