Main aim of the charity

The Ocean Cleanup is a non-profit organization, developing advanced technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic. By utilizing the ocean currents to our advantage, the passive drifting systems are estimated to clean up half the Great Pacific Garbage Patch in 5 years’ time. Plastic pollution in the world's oceans is one of the biggest environmental issues of our time, impacting more than 600 marine species. It does not only impact sea life, it also carries toxic pollutants into the food chain – a food chain including us humans.

How the employee got involved and why

After all the negative news globally, we desperately searched the internet for “positive news” and found this Ocean Clean Up Foundation. The founder is a great inspiration, since he was only 16 years old, when he decided he wanted to tackle a global issue that no one takes responsibility for, but impacts humans, nature and sea life globally.

What work does the employee do for charity?

Setting up a process to make automatic salary donations and free donations easy for employees globally. The pilot was successfully completed in our own building by launching the project and raising awareness of the global plastic pollution threat.
