Main aim of the charity

In the first year, we generated funds for Eden Handicap Center. They provide training to handicapped individuals, helping them to become independent and to find jobs. Funds were used to purchase some large items that they needed (e.g., beds, shelves, stove, etc.), and the balance was donated to the center. In the second year, we generated funds for BOLD Special, a center that provides classes for children with learning disabilities. Funds were wholly donated to the center. This year, we supported the Penang Handicapped Welfare Association, which houses handicapped individuals. Funds were used to purchase a large capacity washing machine that they needed. We're still in the process of disbursing the remaining funds.

How the employee got involved and why

This is the third year that I've organised this event in my community. The aim is to expose the kids to entrepreneurship, and at the same time, contribute to charity. Parents will sponsor the items for kids to sell, and all proceeds will go to a charitable organisation.

What work does the employee do for charity?

I organise the event, but typically do not have any role in the charitable organisation we contribute to.
