Wildlife SOS

Main aim of the charity

Wildlife SOS was established in 1995 by a small group of individuals inspired to start a movement and make lasting change to protect and conserve India’s natural heritage, forest and wildlife wealth. Today, the organisation has evolved to actively work towards protecting Indian wildlife, conserving habitat, studying biodiversity, conducting research and creating alternative and sustainable livelihoods for erstwhile poacher communities or those communities that depend on wildlife for sustenance.

How the employee got involved and why

I found out this from my friend who was volunteering last year, now there was nine of us from Finland. We were there one week volunteering in October.

What work does the employee do for charity?

In Bears, we clean pond areas, build platforms for bears to relax, Elephants, we clean pools and their surraundings, chop fruits, move gras to fields and build activity toys for them. We also saw first elephant hospital build to India.

What impact would winning have on the charity?

It would be huge impact to Wildlife SOS, they need donations all the time for different things (delicious treats, medical care and various playful enrichments). There are many of these animals who suffering pains for rest of their lives, so it would be amazing to help them.

What impact would winning have on the employee?

Week we spend with Wildlife SOS Agra was so amazing, i would definitely go there again some day. The week had a great impact on me and I learned a lot of new things about these animals and their conditions. It would be amazing to help them more than volunteering there.
