Main aim of the charity

The main aim of my charitable cause is improving capabilities of disabled children adn it works with raptors and horses therapies.

How the employee got involved and why

I am a great lover of animals and for many years, my hobby and my passion is falconry with eagles and falcons. Five years ago, I had the chance to know the organization Equinoterapia Madrid Sur whom implemented horses therapies to improve the capacities of disabled children. Then along with the psychologist and therapeutics team we decided to include raptors therapies. Ever since then and being witness of the advantages that these wonderful animals cause on disabled children, I have been engaged with this project.

What work does the employee do for charity?

For 5 years I am volunteering at the organization, doing therapies with raptors and horses for disabled children. I devote 10 hours per week. I try to take the best out of the birds of prey and horses in benefit of people with disabilities. Each session includes activities of riding, contacting with the animal, hygiene and feeding. The therapies strengthen self-esteem, help them lead a less sedentary life, improve balance, coordination and muscle relaxation in those who have spasticity. People with reduced mobility experience the possibility of moving autonomously. The contact with the animals improves their communication. Children engage a true relationship with animals, establishing understanding and affection. Every day I see how therapies improve their quality of life.
