Main aim of the charity
They house individuals with special needs who are from poor or single-parent families, and provide care for them while training them with life skills.
Note: We support different charities every year.
How the employee got involved and why
Every year, we hold a community Kids Sell For Charity event which has 3 objectives:
1. To teach children about committing to a cause and seeing it through
2. To bring awareness to children about those less fortunate to them
3. To support a charity that does not obtain monetary support from the government
This is the fourth year of the annual event and due to the pandemic, we have converted it to a virtual sale that will run over a couple of months, instead of a 3-hour physical event.
With the guidance from parents who sponsor the cost of items being sold, the children are guided to plan what and how to sell, produce the items/service and manage the collections. Parents ensure that the children understand that 100% of the money that is collected will go to charity.
This year's event has been running since the start of October, and seems to be progressing quite successfully even with the new virtual format. Kudos to all participating children and their parents!
What work does the employee do for charity?
My kids and I are producing customised name tags (in the form of keychains, zipper tags, phone accessories, etc.), Nagomi art pieces and Nagomi Christmas themed bookmarks for sale.
