Main aim of the charity
Charlford House Society for Women is a non profit residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility helping women with mental health and addictions misuse disorders.
How the employee got involved and why
I have volunteered for over 17 years in a variety of different roles with Charlford House Society for Women. This charity holds a special place in my heart as they have been helping women with mental health and addictions for 50 years as the oldest residential drug and alcohol recovery center specifically in British Columbia. I continue to volunteer with Charlford House Society as women have been overlooked in many aspects of life for centuries, in British Columbia women have been overlooked in the aspect of available recovery for 50 years, for every female bed in the province of British Columbia there are 7 male beds.
What work does the employee do for charity?
I am currently a member of the fundraising committee for Charlford House Society for women. Previously a member of the golf committee which is normally the largest fundraiser event. Due to covid-19 this event has been moved to a virtual event, not requiring as many resources. As such I am creating a plan to reinvigorate their current 3rd party fundraising plan to help with a financial gap.
