Main aim of the charity
We are not a charity. We are an Fraternal Organization who is giving to others in need for our local community.
How the employee got involved and why
In 2012, a handful of Fraternal Order of Eagle members joined a statewide call to organize a group of motorcycle enthusiasts to have fun and support our local communities. Our group was small (less than 20) when we started. Many in our local organization thought we we wanted to change our organization into a "biker bar". We repeatedly said that is not the intent and we started slowly winning over other members through our efforts and contributions to our community and organization. We now have more than 65 members!
We started small but our efforts are not! We have raised more than $170,000 since 2012 to support our local community. We raised nearly $500 for one of our members in 2017 to ride a motorcycle through a car wash!!! We continue to have fun, explore new ideas for events, and continue hosting events that are well received.
What work does the employee do for charity?
I am a Road Captain for the Fraternal Order of Eagles - Eagle Riders. This is a group of individuals who ride motorcycles and want to help people. You don't have to own or ride a motorcycle to join and we welcome all who want to participate. In fact, our organization has approximately 65 members and half of them don't own a motorcycle!
Our mission is to support and raise funds for our community, organizations, medical needs, anyone who needs assistance. Our motto is "People Helping People".
We host several types of benefits/events throughout the year such as Tatman's Children Christmas Fund (underprivileged children in area), Fayette County Cancer Society, Prevent Child Abuse Awareness, and individuals in our community in need of medical expense assistance or special needs.
