Main aim of the charity
My aim is to develop English language speaking and computer skills of less privileged students which will help improve their communication skills and to deal with the challenges of this competitive world. To achieve this target we have constructed a small room for these students where they can come from 6 PM to 8 PM (mostly girls). There are a number of challenges faced by students, lack of space, lights, ventilation, uncomfortable furniture, clean drinking water, shortage of electricity for 12 hours, but these students are determined to improve their skills and I am also standing with them to learn and improve their skills so that they can get better higher education from good colleges and universities to become successful in their lives. I know without good spoken and written English they will not be able to do it, so our main goal is to improve their English first. If these students join any reputed English learning institute like Berlitz it would cost them $ 200 a month while they do not earn $ 3 daily then going to such institute is impossible for them.
Right now we just have ONE room due to which we cannot register more and more students. There is a great need for of quality education in the town. I am planning to open up a school on charity, and some other classes to adult students who never went to any school or college so that at least they can read and write. I also lack the space and resources I am unable to provide classes to all the students.
I have been living near this under developed area Khokrapar, near Malir town, Karachi since I was born. As I grew-up, I realised that the town lacked the availability of proper education system and vocational training institute. Due to this, the youth lacked communications skills and confidence and faced difficulty getting proper jobs even after completing their education.
Upon realisation, I decided to impart my knowledge and skills with these students with a goal to equip them with basic English language and computer skills to enable them with the basic vocational needs.
To achieve my objective, I joined a welfare group named, ‘Kachi Wager Social Welfare’ in July 2019. This group was already present in this area and were actively working on different social issues. Youth development being my core focus, I planned and executed the construction of the institute (a 1 room education centre) with the help from other members of the welfare group and started evening classes for English language, computer and writing skills, 5 days a week, 3 hours a day. This one room can accommodate only 20 students at a time.
Initially, I started with a group of 10 students and now there 50 students attending these classes divided into three different sessions on regular basis.
I contribute time, effort and knowledge by conducting English language classes 5 days a week, 3 hours a day after office hours i.e. 0600 pm onwards. In addition to conducting classes, I also support the welfare group in organising donation drive to purchase solar panels for electricity, class furniture, computer equipment and renovation of the facility. To ensure the success of this venture, I have also contributed a part of my savings to run the project
