Main aim of the charity
To financially support a female child's education by paying for her education in a secretarial course and have all the essential books, stationery...etc to study.
How the employee got involved and why
I started supporting Bhavitha's education 4 years ago. It was important for me to sponsor her education because I believe that at least helping 1 girl could help break the cycle of poverty in her life. The statistics in India show that homeless female girls are more likely to live in poverty, more likely to be denied access to education, and more likely to be malnourished. However, if If a girl has food, a safe environment, and education, she will work to raise the standard of living for herself, her family, and her community.
What work does the employee do for charity?
I had financially supported the education of a young girl who was living in a rehabilitation centre for HIV/AIDS affected female children in Mangalore, India. The name of the center is Jeevadaan and it helps children who had lost their parents to HIV/AIDS by giving them shelter and food. Bhavitha and her 2 younger sisters were looked after by the centre when their parents died due to AIDs. With my financial support, Bhavitha was able to get an education in a secretarial course and have all the essential books, stationery...etc to study. After completing her course, Bhavitha was able to secure a job and be able to support her 2 sisters. I am so grateful and happy that the support I provided made a huge difference in Bhavitha's life and I am now looking forward to supporting the education of another child in the centre.
