Main aim of the charity

The main aim is to provide free / affordable healthcare for the needy elderly. Other than running a free TCM clinic, Nam Hong also looks into providing other related assistances such as providing food rations, home visits and even helping them with funeral services for those with no immediate families. Below is an example of such a case: “Mr. Su is a cleaner that works with the Town council. A few years ago, his vision deteriorated, and he lost his job. He has difficulty walking and lost his hearing due to old age. He did not seek financial assistance from the government, and did not go for treatment for fear of high treatment cost. He came to Nam Hong for help after learning that we can take care of his funeral when he pass on. We soon helped him to apply for $500 monthly financial assistance and bought him to hospital for treatment for his hearing lost. We continue to visit Mr. Su on a regular basis, and bring food rations to him.”

How the employee got involved and why

I have been volunteering with Nam Hong for more than 10 years. For most countries, increasing healthcare costs is a big concern, especially for elderly and needy who are struggling to make ends to their basic needs. One of the main focus of the organization is to provide free/affordable medical treatment to ensure the needy continue to have access to basic healthcare.

What work does the employee do for charity?

I have been actively volunteering service and fundraising for a charity organization (Nam Hong Welfare Service Society) that focus on rendering help and support to elderly and disadvantaged in Singapore.
