Main aim of the charity

The main aim is to promote the general development of the GaDangme area. Other of our objectives are to promote the culture of the Nyemimei Akpee members and provide social, cultural and educational programs. And to help with the assimilation process of the members, into Belgium society.

How the employee got involved and why

On a regular basis we came together with friends which all have the Ghanian nationality, including my husband. When talking about Ghana and seeing the news and reports about children not beeing able to school...., we wanted to help. So 4 years ago we formed NYEMIMEI AKPEE (Belgium) and after seeing a report about a school that was is a deteriorating state in Abokobi we took it as our mission to help rebuild the school which accomodate children from 4 villages. We want children to have access to a proper school where they can learn in a safe environment. After all children are our future.

What work does the employee do for charity?

NYEMIMEI AKPEE (Belgium) is a NGO created by a group of friends that promotes the general development of the GaDangme area in Ghana. Currently we are rebuilding a junior high school in Abokobi which was in a terible state. We also yearly donate goods to orphanages. Through selling keyholders, cups, organising charity dinners... we raise funds and were able to rebuild part of the school so far.
