Main aim of the charity

Whenever they need me, I always go happily - I love to go, because I know most of the people at the Foundation for more than 9 years. There are several practical things I can help to them. For example at events of the Foundation - from carrying chairs and tables, to welcoming guests and I also help organizing them. Or before Christmas, when the Foundation collects all the presents for kids in foster homes, I help packaging them.

How the employee got involved and why

I started to help the Foundation for 4 years now, because I wanted to give back which I got as a child - they supported me like no one else. I grew up with foster parents, and the Foundation invited me to a summer camp when I was 12. Since then every year I could visit this camp. Later, when my foster mother wanted me to leave, and I had to go to a foster home , they were there for me. On the one hand I just wanted to join the team as often as I can, and on the other hand I wanted to give back something as I said before, and help other kids in state care, because I really know, what they need and what they have to go through. And its great to see, that the way they help, really support the kids.

What work does the employee do for charity?

Hi, my name is Balázs Onodi, and I am a Volunteer of Világszép Foundation For Children In State Care - for already 4 years. But I know them for a much longer time. I will tell you, that I lived with foster parents, when I was 12 years old. Until now, I could not help with their direct work with children, because a special training is needed to that. Hopefully next year, I can start the training at the Foundation in becoming a professional volunteer. My dream is then to become a volunteer at one of the summer camps I used to visit, when I was a child. And I can also support the Foundation’s work by telling stories to those people, who have no idea, what it means to grow up with foster parents/in a foster home, as me, because I also grew up in foster care. Now I am an adult, and I work at DHL Hungary and whenever I can, or when they ask me, I go and help, whatever I can. It is great to see, how big is this foundation now. They not only have summer camps, but also work with 4 foster homes in Budapest, where they tell good night stories ever week, and they have an own Kindergarten Pendula, an inclusive Youth Club called Létra- this is where I often help, by events and today they have a much bigger mentoring program also. This why I would like to support, because the Foundation needs a lot of help, so we can hire more candidate to become professional mentors, who can support and help children in foster care, like myself… Thank you for supporting me, so I can support them.
