Main aim of the charity

VISION: A clean India which has systems in place to ensure that every citizen disposes of their waste correctly and feels a sense of civic responsibility and national pride regarding cleanliness. A healthier India with improved living standards and a better quality of life where waste workers are valued and respected for their work. MISSION: To be a catalyst for practical and community led Solid Waste Management (SWM) initiatives in rural, urban, and protected areas and to pioneer replicable models of resource management, innovative practices, research and education in the field of solid waste management. To improve working conditions for waste workers and take positive steps towards integrating the unorganized waste sector into the formal Solid Waste Management (SWM) industry whilst reducing the stigma attached to waste.

How the employee got involved and why

After UN Paris agreement, CLIMATE CHANGE as a topic became a cynosure for world community. Along with it, related issues like- water, air and environmental pollution etc became the kingpin of world policies. Indian central leadership also focused towards cleanness via a human behavioral change drive called "SWACHH BHARAT MISSION". All this inspired us to focus towards one of the most critical issues of our times- Waste management. We started our association with Waste Warrior NGO since last one year and during COVID, the intensity of the work has been significant with rag pickers who were involved in dealing with hospital wastes.

What work does the employee do for charity?

We as a team work closely with an NGO called “Waste Warriors” whose vision is to have a clean India which has systems in place to ensure that every citizen disposes of their waste correctly. We are engaged in several initiatives like “rag picking drive” in nearby surroundings, educating the school children’s on garbage segregation and personal hygiene. We also recruit them as waste warriors. We are connected to rag pickers community and educate them on safety and segregation. We build models of cleanliness through community engagement and empowerment in urban wards and rural Panchayats.
