How the employee got involved and why
It happens when my very best friend, Wee Kei and I joined 30 hours Famine 2015 which is organized by World Vision Malaysia when we are young. We had join this camp for 2-3 times. But the very last year for us to join was year 2015 where both of us are separated to different universities. Before counting down for the 30th hunger hours, we walked around the stadium whereby there are few road shows from the same organizer.
So, there was one road show hanging quite a number of children photo which pending to get sponsored. We were wandering what happen to these poor children. Then the event organizer explained those children are pending to sponsored.
RM65 do sounds less. It is like what can RM65 do for a child, family or the community? But we realize that it is actually pooled with other sponsors to develop the same community.
Without further delay, both of us chose 1 longest waiting child from Thailand and sponsored him despite we are using our own pocket money as we are still a university student that time.
Then now it turns to 5 years that we have sponsored the same child whereby he has grown from young 9 yo to 14 year old boy for now!
it is great that we received updates, special handwriting letters from the young boy and it turns out that a lovely boy grew up happily. Both my friends and I are happy when the young boy are growing up better with our sponsorship.
A note : To protect child security, privacy and dignity, we will watermark our photos and there are few information are not able to reveal here as well such as surname, school or home address, village name, height, weight and etc. We will follow World Vision child protection policy ensure that children and their families are protected from both physical and emotional abuse.
What work does the employee do for charity?
I sponsored RM65 to World Vision per month for 5 years till now whereby it helps children, families and communities living in poverty to rise above their circumstances and achieve their full potential.
This give communities in need access to Clean Water & Sanitation, Health & Nutrition, Education, Livelihood and Child Protection. This contributions are pooled together with other child sponsors’ and channeled towards holistic development in the same sponsored child’s community.
