Main aim of the charity

Operation Smile UAE complies with the requirements set by the ‘Ministry of Community Development’ for fundraising activities. Our registration with the Ministry enables Operation Smile UAE to organize fundraising campaigns and events, awareness initiatives and volunteer recruitment drives as well as receive direct donations in 6 of the 7 Emirates in the UAE. we work with local medical professionals, governments, hospitals and other NGOs to create various models of surgical care. Together, we determine which solutions work best in order to reach as many children as possible wherever we work. And we’re going to keep doing this and refining our approach as we move forward. All with the goal to give the most effective surgical care to patients worldwide. Operations Smile brings the highest quality of care to every child, every time. We were the first cleft organization to support the World Health Organization's Safe Surgery Saves Lives initiative. Our Global Standards of Care is our commitment to ensuring that every patient cared for by Operation Smile will benefit from the same sophisticated equipment, procedures and highly trained, credentialed medical professionals, no matter where they receive treatment.

How the employee got involved and why

It all started in the year 2014, a request from the Head of the organization Morag Cromey to support for a cause to sell books in a mall, for me a cleft lip child was always near to my heart because sad but true that I had lost a child who had a cleft lip well before the child could see the world and my situation was not that strong financially that I could support charity through money but i had always been active in kind that is I started teaching children of construction workers back home in India through a organization called Mobile Creches, then my journey started towards MENA (KSA / BAH /KWI)for work purpose and finally I joined DHL Express UAE family in 2005 and I had an opportunity to serve and do my best to support children with cleft lip to get their operation done through this charity organization called Operations Smile - UAE

What work does the employee do for charity

I organize our DHL CSR team members to participate in the events organized by Operations Smile. For example every year we have a event in the local malls to sell old books and all the sale proceeding goes to the Charity org to perform the cleft lip operation.
