Thread Together

Main aim of the charity

They work with fashion houses, to source new excess clothing and redistribute to those in our communities that need it the most.  This is done through mobile vans, pop up shops (no money is exchanged) and through charities. People in need to choose what they want to wear and the clothing is all brand new. By rescuing new clothing from landfill and providing it to people who are doing it tough, Thread Together makes both a social and environmental impact. Their work goes directly to giving people as much dignity as possible at their darkest time. It is a service that recognises that tough times eventually subside. Whilst someone is going through it, the very best should be afforded to that person to get them back on track.

How the employee got involved and why

It gives back to the community both socially and environmentally. I started recently in August. There mission is simple, To deliver new, good quality clothing and shoes to people in our community who are doing it tough. They believe that they can restore dignity and hope for men, women and children who are going through a difficult time by providing the opportunity to choose a complete wardrobe of new clothes. They work with fashion houses, to source new excess clothing and redistribute to those in our communities that need it the most.  This is done through mobile vans, pop up shops (no money is exchanged) and through charities. People in need to choose what they want to wear and the clothing is all brand new. Most recently helping out during the bushfires, then floods and then the pandemic. Also providing clothing for Afghanistan refugees who arrived in Australia with just the clothing that they were wearing. They are currently supporting the people who are homeless, youth at risk, Indigenous communities, survivors of domestic violence, refugees or long term unemployed. People in need of comfortable clothing to enable them to feel safe and warm, or people seeking clothing for a new job.

What work does the employee do for charity
