Toutes à l'école Luxembourg
Main aim of the charity
The nonprofit organization Toutes à l’école puts in place a high level education for underprivileged girls.
In 2006, Toutes à l’école opened Happy Chandara pilot school, located 12 kilometers away from the capital Phnom Penh in Cambodia. It currently welcomes 1335 pupils (in primary school secondary school, high school, in the vocational training center and in university studies).
Happy Chandara’s mission is to prepare and accompany the students until they find their first job, whether they decide to go to university, or prefer to go for vocational training.
Every year, around one hundred little girls start their school life at Happy Chandara.
How the employee got involved and why
After travelling to Asia and visiting schools there, I realised that it is not automatic and easy for some children to access schooling. I wanted to give the same opportunities to all children and I started sponsoring children. In addition to financial support, the news and the interest we show in these children helps them to develop and gain confidence in themselves and to seize the opportunity to enter the professional work.
What work does the employee do for charity
I have been sponsoring and following the schooling of my godchildren for over 10 years, first in Thailand and now in Cambodia. It is a family adventure in which even our children (Léa: 10 years old and Gabriel: 6 years old) have forged links with these children at the end of the world by sending them letters, pictures and small gifts. We have also raised funds in the past (through our professional and private network) for the construction of water and sanitary facilities in our godchildren's schools.
