Main aim of the charity

While a cleft surgery can transform a child’s life in as little as 45 minutes, Operation Smile is committed to addressing our patients’ cleft care needs throughout their childhood and adolescence so that they can realize happier and healthier futures. A patient may need the care of many specialists who work as a team to ensure the best long-term outcomes. Our volunteers around the world conduct programs, partner with hospitals, and operate care centers to deliver the ongoing care our patients need and deserve. SURGERY: Timely cleft surgery is essential to a patient’s long-term health and well-being. NUTRITION: A cleft condition can cause malnourishment. Our nutritional support helps patients grow healthy for surgery. SPEECH: Speech therapists help patients speak more clearly and teach parents feeding techniques for their babies. DENTISTRY: Dentists provid

How the employee got involved and why

I started in 2021 because I learned more about the impact that this organization has on the lives of children. Having a cleft lip or palate is not only a physical defect, it affects the child's development in many aspects, social, emotional, learning, among others. In addition, their treatment is long and they merit up to 7 operations in the course of their lives. I believe that we can collaborate and give low-income children a better chance of life.

What work does the employee do for charity

Support in the work plan of events and fundraising activities of the organization so that DHL employees and my circle of friends and family can join the mission.
