Main aim of the charity

The main aim of the charity is to raise awareness about breast cancer in the South Asian Women and at the same time raise funds to support the Breast Cancer research for William Osler Foundation. The initiative is anticipated to continue every year with main objective to raise awareness and funds for research.

How the employee got involved and why

Couple of years ago, I lost my two beloved friends due to breast cancer, one of the key reasons was due to lack of Breast cancer awareness and especially in South Asian women, that time I had decided that in Memory of my beloved friends to take the initiative of breast cancer awareness, at the same time to raise funds for Breast Cancer research for William Osler foundation. I wanted to start this in 2020, due to Pandemic had to take a step back and put together the first event on April 3rd, 2022, Celebrated Gangaur festival at my residence in Brampton and tied it up with “Breast Cancer Awareness" and also to raise the funds for William Osler foundation. On Sunday April 3rd, 2022, we celebrated the Gangaur Festival at my residence in Brampton and tied it up with “Breast Cancer awareness”. Gangaur festival is traditionally celebrated in India, in which mostly Women pray for the well-being of their family. This event that day was attended by close to 200 Women. I have taken a pledge to continue what have been started last year to create breast cancer awareness and raise funds for William Osler foundation. I am going to have similar event on March 25th, 2023 to again celebrate the festival while raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research.

What work does the employee do for charity

Hello! My name is Rashi Bajaj, I am part of DHL Canada team in Brokerage department at Parkshore drive, Brampton. Every year, I organize "Gangaur" Festival at my home in Brampton. Gangaur festival is traditionally celebrated in India, in which mostly Women pray for the well-being of their family. This year, the event was attended by close to 200 Women. The event is fully sponsored by me and during that event I take initiative to create awareness about breast cancer and raise funds for William Osler Foundation to create awareness and support research for breast cancer. The main aim of the event this year was to raise awareness about breast cancer in the South Asian Women and at the same time raise funds to support the Breast Cancer research for William Osler Foundation. The initiative is anticipated to continue every year with main objective to raise awareness and funds for research among women. We tied up with Cancer Warriors, RANA and Amity Foundation. Cancer Warriors personnel mainly Breast Cancer survivors did a camp to create Breast Cancer awareness to women who were in attendance. It was well received by all who were present. Event was attended by many key dignitaries including Consul General of India Toronto: Apoorva Srivastava, President of Treasury Board of Ontario Prabmeet Sarkaria, Mayor of Brampton Patrick Brown, Peel Police Board Chair Ron Chattha, MPP Amarjot Sandhu, many organization and religious intuitions heads. At the same event, we raised $10,000 to be given to William Osler Foundation for Breast Cancer Research. Cheque of $10,000 was presented to Ken Mayhew President and CEO of William Osler foundation on October 29th, 2022. The event was covered by major south Asian media including Y-Media, Zee TV, Gujarat Weekly, Gujarat abroad, Gujarat Newsline, Swadesh, Gujarat Express, Hindi abroad, social media platforms and many other and in this way, message was received by many.
