Main aim of the charity

Ekal is engaged in the education of tribal, indigenous children in rural India and Nepal. Ekal helps run over 102,000 schools that educate 2.8 million children in rural, remote parts of India and Nepal. Ekal’s mission is the holistic development of villages through basic education, digital literacy, skill development, health awareness, modern sustainable agricultural practices and rural entrepreneurship. The vision of Ekal Vidyalaya (single teacher schools) is to facilitate the process of empowering communities based on the concept of social, economic and gender equality.

How the employee got involved and why

It gives me sheer joy and happiness. The idea of gifting education to people who are deprived and don't have access to is very special and close to my heart. It all started in 2013 when one of my friends took me to a school meant for orphans on my birthday. It was a life changing moment. That day i decided to do something meaningful for my society. Later, i came to know about Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation. Foundation aims to eradicate illiteracy from tribal areas of India and Nepal through rural development based on the criteria of equality, diversity and inclusion across all sections of society.

What work does the employee do for charity

I raise funds to support my cause. I meet with people from different walks of life and discuss the idea of gifting education to the people who need it most
