House of joy and mercy
Main aim of the charity
The House of Joy and Mercy is a NGO that aims to provide care and shelter to the weak, sterilized, and injured animals.
They organized adoption days from time to time to help animals to find their forever home. It also offers free help to pet owners who are not able to take care of their pets due to health issues.
The organization has a strong belief that giving care and love to animals are alternatives to animal euthanasia! They also participate in different public education works on animal welfare!
How the employee got involved and why
When I first met Ms. Ivy Tse – Owner of the House of Joy and Mercy at a fundraising function in 2019, she looked thin and tired. She told me that she wakes up at 7 am and sleeps at 2 am every day because she has vowed to take care of any old and ill dogs that come her way. Now, her shelter adopted over 200 abandoned and stray dogs, cats, pet birds, goats and turtles. With her effort, she established a voluntary veterinary clinic for stray animals in Shum Shui Po in July 2022. Which provide basic medical service to other volunteers who rescued animals for free.
I was touched by her non-stop effort to help those animals in need. Her job is amazing and full of love.
What work does the employee do for charity
I started small amount donation since 2019 and help volunteer work. In the past two years, there has been a global economic recession caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Nothing and no one were left untouched by the challenges that came with the coronavirus. The shelter is having financial difficulties. Despite the limited support I can offer. I think I can do a little bit more.
With the support of Hong Kong CS Management team, I led a workgroup to launch a fund-raising project for the charity in CS week this year. The activity gained huge support from colleagues. Although the contribution is limited, we successfully promoted this great charity to my colleagues. I hope this is not only an activity in Hong Kong but able to influence other countries to show your love in CS week. While we are enjoying CS week, we have same spirit it is more blessed to give than to receive!
