Out of The Cold
Main aim of the charity
St. Patrick’s Out of the Cold is part of the cooperative Out of the Cold Program in downtown Toronto. Each winter many faith and community based organizations band together to ensure that on any night of the week people can find shelter, a meal and a bed as an alternative to sleeping outdoors and going hungry. St. Patrick’s has been a part of this program for about 30 years now and on a regular basis serves meals to about 250 people and offers overnight shelter for 80 people.
How the employee got involved and why
I participate in this charity because it is a direct mode of giving to homeless around Christmas. I started participating in this charity twelve years ago and the need increases every year. Especially with the cost of living and the cost of food.
What work does the employee do for charity
I prepare and deliver food to 500-1000 homeless people. The food is served onsite and brought to a location. It is then placed in food containers.
