Main aim of the charity

From the SickKids website; We believe fighting for the health and wellbeing of children is one of the most powerful ways to improve society. Our mission is to inspire communities to invest in health and scientific advances to improve the lives of children and their families in Canada and around the world.

How the employee got involved and why

Cycling is my hobby and I have always liked to channel my hobby for a good cause each year. The SickKids charity provides support and care for children affected by cancer and their families and it is a cause that is meaningful to me. I first did the challenge in 2018 and since then have raised almost $14,000.

What work does the employee do for charity

Each year I take part in the Great Cycle Challenge Canada which involves cyclists all over Canada setting an individual distance goal to aim for in the month of August when the challenge is active. Each year I set myself a challenging goal - in 2022 I set a goal to complete 1,000km during the month. Part of the challenge is raising funds for the SIckKids charity in Canada and this year raised almost $4,500.
